| Job Description: | Our client is a highly regarded firm of medium sized Civil & Structural Consulting Engineers. They current seek to fill a key role of Hydraulic Modeller within their Herts office. He / She is required to augment their growing hydrology team, the successful candidate will be degree qualified and have proven experience of carrying out hydraulic modelling of watercourses using appropriate industry recognised software (e.g. HEC-RAS, ISIS, TUFLOW, Windes etc). Work will also include Breach Analysis, to inform Flood Plans, and Evacuation Statements. The results of all assessment work needs to be presented in a report format to be included in Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Plans, Evacuation Statements, Breach Analysis and Drainage Catchment Studies. The Candidate will be expected to write Flood Risk Assessments to comply with PPS25 and TAN 15. It will be a distinct advantage if the Candidate is also able to produce reports to comply with PPS 15 (Ireland) and SPP7 (Scotland) and have an understanding of drainage designs, including SUDS systems and surface water attenuation options.
A good knowledge of all relevant UK planning policies and legislation is essential together with experience of negotiating approvals of modelling work and related Flood Risk Assessments with approving authorities, such as the Environment Agency, Water Authorities and Local Planning Authorities. It is intended for an existing Graduate to be trained in the use of Hydrology software and thus the Candidate will need good mentoring skills to assist this process. It is also the intention for the Hydrology Team to expand in future years and therefore the Candidate will need proven organisation skills. The need for good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organise and prioritise workload for a growing team is paramount. The remuneration package will reflect the experience of the successful candidate (negotiable, but likely to be in the region of £32-40,000 p.a together with a comprehensive benefits package). |
